5 Signs that your dog might be suffering from joint pain
and what you can do to help
Signs to look out for include:
1. Slowing down on walks, or limping.
2. Finding it trickier to climb stairs, or to jump into the back of a car.
3. Licking or chewing at a joint.
4. Tiredness and irritability.
5. Slow and stiff movements, or unable to bend joints as easily, especially in cold or damp weather.
Arthritis is the leading cause of joint pain in dogs and it’s incredibly common as our four-legged friends get older. Whilst it isn’t curable, there are plenty of things we can do to help with symptoms, such as:
1. Exercising little and often.
2. Maintaining a healthy weight.
3. Providing a padded, comfortable bed.
4. Speaking to your vet about medications, or joint supplements.
Important note: Always contact your vet with any concerns about the health of your pet and before introducing new medications or supplements.
